kala – music producer

Sounds good, right?
During the “1st hard lockdown” I’ve decided to invest in myself. I wanted to find something that will utilize my music and engineers abilities. I asked uncle google about “passive income”. In the first 10 I found a perfect match – music licensing for film, tv, ads, series and whoever wants to use your production/composition. It was something different. I did a research and started to do the thing I love the most and is always great – started do study! Thanks to all the time I’ve spend meditating and basically working on progressing my life as a energetic being my concentration skills and learning abilities were almost as when I was a teenager. I did my research and just started composing. “Music licensing”, “music libraries”, Pond5, Audiojungle itp etc. From behind the mixing dest a jump to a pair of monitors and a computer. Composition, arrangement, mastering, plugins, alt mixes, stems and the list continues. It’s another world comparing to an artistic path. Here you get a set of rules to follow. There are endless resources in that subject and you never stop learning. On the other hand, all the things I ever did in my life were never “closed” and I think my need of constant development led me to them.
I couldn’t belive it andI had to put it to my head that this is actually composing and producing music. My first tracks sound so lame to me now. It’s hard for me to fit in one genre. It’s just electronic music and for music libraries it’s too broad. You need to choose a category while uploading tracks, write tags, descriptions and some more additional office work is involved.
. When submitting music you wait, sometimes even for months and all you get is “Your music is not up to current standards.” That’s it. No what, why, how to improve.. and you just keep on knocking on the door. Of course if you are good at EDM, eurodance, drum and bass that has a feeling of mad kitchen appliance party or straight rock music jingles it gets easier. Then you fit. My first few tracks got to pond5 and some other royalty free platforms. So many times I thought to my self what a pity I don’t sing. Simple vocal track, just “nanana” would make keeping the listeners attention so much easier. On the other hand, thanks to not singing I am learning how to build tension and keep it attractive in a complete other way. In production music there is no place for looping. No repeating phrases. Structure is different than a “normal” song. You give music supervisors options, many options. There’s another side of that, You can search for briefs for music and than create exactly on demand in certain style and even certain artist way. That way does not work for me. Yet. I’ve tried. I start in a certain point and then again turn to the same way – my way, my music path.
Today it makes me very happy.
2020 was very eventful as it comes to music production. I’ve released an EP #kalissima with progressive techno tracks of my own. We went a long way with CrewKruLove (including 24 episodes of “Izo-wizja” a improvised micro concerts series). I did get submitted to SpiderCues exclusive library and composed and produced over 50 tracks. And it is still coming! In 2020 I’ve also managed to mix few very good live/online concerts with Joanna Duda Trio. This year I’m fully concentrated on creating music. Recently I got accepted as Cinephhonix.
It was my dream to “make music”. I believed in myself and created this reality. I can not forget one time when I had gone for a walk in Gdynia, on the boulevard. It was early autumn last year. I just stood there watching the see and the memory of the exact moment the feeling of that dream came… and there I was living that dream. kala – music producer.

Moving to Italy was very motivating. On the last photo you see how can a human downsize with the equipment and not loos quality! All the gear I use now fits into a small case and a backpack. IK Multimedia Micro and MTMs are absolutely amazing and Arturia AudioFuse and KeyStep are more than I expected. It’s all about smart solutions. Of course it’s not the whole gear we took with us and I miss my Novation Bass Station II. I will figure something out to bring it to our next stop..

Here are some recaps from 2020 and my current work area – the small production setup!

So if you are in a need of some special music for film, add or a presentation let me know. I also compose things you can actually sing to! “Any genre specified” but as you already know I feel the best in all sorts of electronics. I do mix and master tracks.
