Small town and commune in Como province. Google says it has around 1000 people living here and this seems about right. Such a beautiful and peaceful place…during the week. During the weekends it tends to get very busy and crowded. First place, that with people doesn’t lose its charm. It’s surrounded by mountains and Mount Legnone (2609 m n.p.m.) is the tallest of those around. I’ve read it is an easy hike and I have the urge to go there. Me? Yeah! I’ve always said I don’t like mountains, but here this changed. There is something magical in this place. Small paradise. Each and every day it looks different. The lake, though it didn’t seem so, is really big and spacious.
Gera Lario is a place I didn’t think I’ll find, but to be honest, if found me. It’s a place with a basketball court with the best view ever. There is a kite spot, with no sand. When I finish my session and pack my gear a smell .. pine and sit and chill on a nicely cut lawn. The lawns are cut regularly, there is almost no trash, and it’s clean and tidy. I’ve heard that “It’s almost Switzerland” and that’s why. There are a few bars, a hotel with a restaurant, and great pizza but not the only pizza place in town. Slow life. There is a paraglide landing spot so almost every day, there is someone flying around here. The small port, where 414 boats live, is surrounded by a stone wall. Oh, there is a romantic spot with a bench near it with a lake view. There are no sunsets – classical ones, the sun disappears behind the mountains so early I even don’t notice it. Thanks to that, the evenings are quite easy here, what I mean is the terrain has some time to lose the temperature that it hot during the full on sunny days.
